While it's fun to hope for some of the bigger prizes in a contest, sometimes I just want one of the lower value ones, especially if it's unique or I can use it everyday.
Also, like Andrea, sometimes I like to use an everyday item for a different purpose. For example, a sparkly makeup bag will store art supplies. See-through water bottle? Now a marker container. Cute coffee mug? Convenient pens/pencil storage, but if you're like my mother, it might become a tiny planter.
Text version of today's comic for screen readers
Panel 1: Andrea and Melanie are holding their smoothie drinks and are standing next to a contest poster that reads: "Every purchase has a chance to WIN!" and depicts potential prizes like a trip, money, a smoothie, and a cookie jar.
Andrea points in the opposite direction of the poster: "Melanie, let's get a table by the window."
Melanie points to the poster: "Andrea look, they're having a contest!"
Panel 2: Andrea and Melanie are still next to the contest poster.
Andrea: "There's even a cookie jar prize!"
Melanie has an eyebrow raised: "Who cares about a cookie jar when you can win money or a trip?!"
Panel 3: Andrea has an excited and dreamy expression on her face as she imagines holding the cookie jar in one hand while offering a cat treat with her other hand to an excited orange and black striped cat.
Andrea: "I could store Mr. Sprinkles' cat treats inside it!"
Melanie has a somewhat annoyed expression: "You'd waste a cookie jar on cat treats?"
